ABOUT ME
Growing up I was always surrounded by flowers, gardens, and antiques. My first recollections are of old tractor tires lining the long farm road leading to the front gate of the farmhouse at my Great-Grandpa's, the wonderful cottage garden at my Great-Aunt's house where
hollyhocks towered above my head, and my first trip to an antique auction with my parents and Great-Uncle. I was all of 6 when my Mom bid and won an old McCoy cabin cookie jar and I was hooked. Around this same time my mom and grandma began teaching me embroidery. I remember our bed pillows with pretty
floral patterns embroidered in bright colors and forever wanting to go into my grandma's dresser drawers to pull out all her creations. I didn't know it then, but the everyday items we used were vintage from the 20's, 30's, 40's and some quilts even older.
As I grew older art became a big part of my life. Paintbrushes and flowers replaced thread and patterns. My Mom opened our floral
shop in 1972 and I have been designing for 35 years and creating hand-painted home decor peices for just as long. Embroidery and going "antiqueing" were relaxing hobbies. Mom always mixed vintage and antique pieces with botanicals in our Treasures of the Past Collection(C), but I realized vintage textiles could also be added to our lines. So began Brown Gingham Creations(C). Wedding pillows were a given, but pillows and totes with presentations of flowers was new. I find creating fashions for dolls is always fun, but using vintage textiles is inspirational and including one in a garden basket is perfect.
So, now, I have made my creations available on-line as gifts and home decor peices for you.
I hope you enjoy
